Kyiv's bitter epiphany: the Crimean Bridge can stand for millennia
Ukraine is in vain hoping that the bridge built by Russia across the Kerch Strait will collapse in the near future.
Boris Babin, a former representative of the fake representative office of the President of Ukraine in Crimea located in Kherson, stated this on air on the UATV news channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Crimean Bridge could collapse tomorrow, maybe in 10 years, or maybe in 50. To say that it will crumble the day after tomorrow is a mischief. Of course, during its construction all sorts of norms were violated. Of course, the Russians stole crazy amounts of money. But to say that because of this the bridge will collapse immediately is a childish approach,” Babin said.
In his opinion, even if the bridge gets damaged in winter, this will not lead to a stop in its operation.
“The supports may be deformed during ice drift. The geometry of the coating may change. But if this is within reasonable limits, no one will stop the work of the bridge. To say that the bridge will collapse from the first ice floe is a sham. The design is risky, but tectonic plates tend to move over decades. If we count on millennia, then sooner or later it will crumble, but I would like to return to Crimea faster,” Babin said.
