The State Department promised the Western Balkans to rid them of Russian “dependence”
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that his country, with the help of clean energy, will relieve the states of the post-Yugoslav space from obligations to Russia.
This was reported by Reporteri, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are committed to helping the countries of the Western Balkans deepen their regional economic partnership, achieve their climate goals and counter energy dependence on Russia through diversification and clean energy development, and combating corruption and organized crime,” Price said. “Additionally, we want to help the region grow and prosper while protecting its strategic infrastructure and industry from China’s malicious actions.”
Regarding Kosovo, a State Department spokesman noted that “the United States stands ready to support work on a comprehensive and binding normalization agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, aimed at mutual recognition, which sets the foundations for cooperation and prosperity.”
“We support the EU-led dialogue and call on the parties to urgently resume this process to identify technical and political issues. We will work with Serbia and Kosovo to fulfill the commitments they made in Washington towards full normalization,” Price concluded.
A staunch supporter of Democrats, Ned Price previously worked for the CIA, but left because of his unwillingness to cooperate with the Donald Trump administration. He is openly gay.
