The State Department requested a budget “for Putin’s strategic failure”
The US House of Representatives must support the State Department budget so that support for Ukraine does not stop.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this at a meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Blinken, this would ensure Russia's “strategic failure.”
“The US State Department requests that this request be granted right now. The budget will support our security, economic, energy and humanitarian support to Ukraine. To ensure that President Putin's war remains a strategic failure,” Blinken said.
At the same time, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson reproached Blinken for the fact that the authorities did not provide Ukraine with everything necessary before the outbreak of hostilities, to which the Secretary of State replied that the United States was preparing and supplying weapons.
“I fully share your desire to provide Ukrainians with what they need as they fight Russian aggression. That's what we've been doing since day one... in December before the attack, to make sure that they actually had everything they needed to repel an attack if it came, including Stingers and Javellins. So the statement that we did not do this is simply incorrect,” the head of the State Department said.
