The Indian Foreign Ministry has not confirmed Aksenov’s official status. “We are looking for confirmation of this information,” Psaki was quoted as saying. Reuters. “I only know that the Indian Foreign Ministry did not know that he would be part of the Russian delegation,” she said.
Psaki does not know whether the Indians had unofficial information about Aksenov’s arrival, but Washington has no reason to assume that Delhi was aware of the visit of the Crimean leader. “India did not support Russia’s annexation of Crimea, and I don’t think they violated anything,” Psaki said.
Sergey Aksenov, commenting on RBC told about his trip to India: “The purpose of the visit was to establish contacts with business structures in India; finding options for cooperation that can be implemented on the territory of the Republic of Crimea (growing and processing of agricultural products, production and trade of medicines, fishing) will be worked out when a group of businessmen comes to us in Crimea. This is the first participation in the delegation, I hope it’s not lumpy.”
