The State Duma celebrated the anniversary of the referendum in Crimea with applause
The State Duma of the Russian Federation began today's meeting with applause in honor of the seventh anniversary of the referendum on the reunification of Crimea with Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's remember what we had seven years ago. The divided people were reunited - a referendum was held on the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia. We must remember this and tell our children and grandchildren about this.
The tragedy that happened to the citizens of our country, when one part of them remained in one state, the other in Russia, should not happen again. Politicians must think when making such decisions.
You know in what situation this all happened. A coup took place in Ukraine. Power was practically seized in an unconstitutional manner. Residents of Sevastopol and Crimea have made their choice. Over the years that have passed, we have seen how dynamically Sevastopol and Crimea are developing, becoming, as before, part of our country - Russia,” said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
