The State Duma voted unanimously to abolish roaming in Russia
Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted today in the first reading a bill on the abolition of national roaming in Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The authors of the project consider national roaming to be an archaism that impedes the development of service availability. Roaming arose many years ago, when operators connected through a single operator, and this created certain financial costs.
“FAS and deputies tried to persuade leading operators to voluntarily cancel roaming, but no one voluntarily refuses such money. Expensive packages where there is no longer roaming are misleading citizens and taking advantage of a situation where a person cannot calculate what is more profitable for him. In any case, there will be no surprises,” said Oleg Nilov, deputy chairman of the Committee for Control and Regulations.
He believes that it is necessary to achieve the abolition of roaming in Belarus and Kazakhstan as well.
The bill also provides for the abolition of charges for incoming telephone calls (with the exception of foreign calls).
