The State Duma will take urgent measures against “death groups” on the Internet
The State Duma of Russia must take the most serious measures as soon as possible to ensure the safety of children who are being encouraged to commit suicide on the Internet. In 2016, 720 such cases were registered in the country. Vice Speaker Irina Yarovaya announced this today in the Russian parliament.

“Children’s suicide is remote murder. In Russian legislation there remains a dormant norm - incitement to suicide. She never worked. And today, those who induce children to commit suicide cannot even be held criminally responsible. There is no such crime in the legislation,” Yarovaya said.
According to her, in the so-called “death groups” on social networks professional moderation takes place, children are accompanied to the place of suicide
“We have prepared a law that eliminates the gap in legislation. We propose to establish criminal liability for incitement to suicide, assistance to suicide, and propaganda of suicide. We believe that it is necessary to establish liability for persons who organize criminal dangerous games for children. This is not only damaging to families, it is undermining the national security of the country, because the entire young generation of the country is under attack,” Yarovaya said.
She also proposes to provide additional powers to law enforcement officers so that operational activities begin before the site is blocked.
