The State Duma will award the Russian football team
The State Duma of the Russian Federation should award certificates of honor to the entire Russian Football Union for the quality organization and worthy holding of the World Cup.
Such a proposal was made today at a meeting of the State Duma by deputy Igor Lebedev from the LDPR party, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Colleagues, you must agree that even half of the people in this room on the eve of the Championship did not believe that our team would make it out of the group at all, and the other half of this room could not have even dreamed in their worst dreams that we would reach the quarterfinals and be stopped one missed penalty from reaching the semi-finals, but our team did it, did it, and proved it,” Lebedev said.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin supported this proposal.
“This is truly a huge victory for our country. Therefore, if you support this decision, we will definitely invite the team and invite the organizing committee to thank them for their work,” Volodin said.
