The State Duma made an important decision on Donbass
The State Duma today at its meeting unanimously supported the inclusion of residents of the LDPR in the circle of persons exempt from paying the state fee for admission to Russian citizenship, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Presenting the bill, Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin preferred the politically correct name of the Donbass republics as “territories of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.”
“We are considering in the first reading the bill “On amendments to Article 333-35 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation (in terms of exemption from payment of state duty for the admission to citizenship of the Russian Federation of persons living in the territories of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine),” said Volodin.
One of the initiators of the adoption of the law, deputy from Crimea Andrei Kozenko, spoke out much more harshly.
“This bill, in terms of the abolition of this duty, is an extremely important element of support for our Russian compatriots living in Donbass and who find themselves in a difficult situation related to the ongoing military aggression against them from Ukraine. For many residents of the DPR and LPR, the need to pay the state duty, the amount of which is 3500 rubles, is extremely significant or unaffordable,” Kozenko said.
He noted that the adoption of the bill makes it possible to take into account the interests and expectations of more than three million compatriots - residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and make it as comfortable as possible to acquire Russian citizenship.
Kozenko also informed that, according to information as of mid-April, the number of residents of the DPR and LPR who received Russian citizenship in a simplified manner is approaching 200 thousand people: 92 thousand people in the DPR and 95,5 thousand people in the LPR. In total, 218 applications for admission to citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner were accepted, the total population in both republics is 236 people.
As a result of the voting, 321 deputies voted “For”.
Volodin emphasized that the bill was promptly sent to the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, which is also meeting today.
