The State Duma adopted the renovation bill in the second reading. Liberals are preparing new protests
The State Duma of the Russian Federation on Friday adopted in the second reading a bill on renovation (mass demolition of Khrushchev-era buildings) in Moscow. 406 deputies voted for the adoption of the document, two voted against, and two more abstained.
As stated by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the renovation schedule will take into account the technical condition of the house, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If we accept such an amendment, our renovation program will include communal apartments, dormitories and houses in pre-emergency condition. Moreover, instead of a communal apartment, a separate apartment will be provided - this is a principled position. And brick houses in good condition will be included in the final stage of the program. Its term is 15-20 years,” Volodin explained.
The State Duma will consider the renovation bill in the third reading on June 14. In addition, a meeting of the working group on the bill on the demolition of five-story buildings is scheduled for June 13 with the participation of residents of the capital whose houses are included in the program.
Opponents of the renovation intend to speak at a rally of the liberal opposition, which is planned for June 12 in Moscow on Sakharov Avenue.
“The law on the abolition of private property was adopted in the second reading... On June 12, a large rally will take place on Sakharov Avenue. Opponents of the “renovation” law are organizing their column. We are planning to buy a large balloon (160 cm!) and tie our symbol to it - construction tape. It will be visible to everyone in any photograph of the event, and it will also become a noticeable point of our gathering,” announced one of the organizers of the event, Yulia Galyamina.
