The State Duma called on Channel One to terminate the contract with the “master of Moldova”
The State Duma of the Russian Federation today appealed to Channel One to terminate the contract with Moldovan television, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As stated by the Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Leonid Kalashnikov, the anti-Russian oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who is considered the “master” of the country, is behind the ban on the broadcast of Russian political and information-political programs in Moldova.

“Our committee believes that we must give a personal assessment of the actions of this anti-Russian politician. We also propose to do this because he has Russian citizenship - this requires a separate investigation. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against him under the article “organization of attempted murder.” The fact that Channel One granted rights to a person professing anti-Russian views is abnormal,” Kalashnikov said.
Social polls show that the majority of Moldovans are in favor of friendship with Russia, 700 thousand of them work in the Russian Federation, the deputy noted.
“As soon as the President of Moldova began to turn his head towards Russia, they decided to turn it back to where the West had placed it a little earlier. He put it in place thanks to the Democratic Party and the current government,” Kalashnikov said.
In the resolution, the State Duma calls on the UN, the Council of Europe and the OSCE to assess the gross violation of the Declaration and conventions on human rights. At the same time, deputies believe that in the context of the ban on Russian broadcasts, the Russian government should develop a set of measures so that the population of Moldova has access to Russian programs, for example, through satellites.
