“Deputies of the State Duma will treat any attempts to rely on the fact of its acceptance by third countries and international organizations as hostile actions against the Russian Federation with all the ensuing consequences for relations,” the text of the statement says.

In this context, the State Duma called on the parliaments of the USA and Great Britain (USSR allies in World War II) to join their statement.

Deputy Konstantin Zatulin, who presented the document, believes that politicians in Poland and Ukraine are “trying to hide the problems in their own relations, demonstrating a desire to be friends against a common enemy.”

“It is no secret that the initiative to adopt this document was connected with the fact that a black cat ran between Russophobes in Poland and Ukraine after the Sejm of Poland made a historical decision to condemn the massacre in Volyn, perpetrated by Bandera’s supporters during the Great Patriotic War. This caused a nervous reaction from the new Banderaites in Ukraine. We decided to adopt a declaration that would unite both,” Zatulin said.

He noted that with this declaration, Poland and Ukraine question their own western borders established by the Yalta conference in 1945.

The Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted on October 20, 2016 as a joint document the Declaration of Memory and Solidarity, in which they considered the Soviet Union to be the aggressors who unleashed the Second World War and spoke out against the decisions taken in 1945 at the Yalta Conference of Heads of State of the Anti-Hitler Coalition (USSR, USA and Great Britain) on the post-war structure of Europe.
