The State Duma voted for the “cannibalistic” reform
The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted today in the final third reading a law providing for an increase in the retirement age by 5 years.
United Russia voted for the reform, while the other three factions voted against it, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov called the adopted document a “killer law” and the reform “cannibalistic.”
“There are killer laws, although the evidence of their enormous destructive power is not always clear on the day of adoption. We don't consider this a reform! We believe that this is a document that undermines national security, destroys the coordinated actions of society and does not allow for the implementation of a single point of the president’s message. I’m simply amazed how you neglected stability, without which we are unable today to fight either sanctions or the challenges posed by NATO,” Zyuganov said.
The leader of A Just Russia, Sergei Mironov, believes that mass protests against raising the retirement age will begin in Russia next year.
“80% of the population categorically do not accept this reform. People are in shock, people have overcome the pain barrier. They understand that they were cheated out of money, hundreds of thousands of rubles,” Mironov said.
The leader of the third opposition faction - LDPR - Vladimir Zhirinovsky, he told reporters that he does not support the reform “conceptually”, since he is in favor of funded pensions.
