The State Duma has seriously complicated the activities of foreign agents
The State Duma adopted in final reading the law on additional measures to counter threats to national security, amending Russian legislation on foreign agents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Now public associations that are not registered as legal entities, as well as individuals, can be declared foreign agents. And that includes foreign journalists involved in politics.
“This bill is the result of the implementation of the provisions of the constitution on protecting the sovereignty of the country and preventing interference in the internal affairs of our state,” said deputy Vasily Piskarev, who presented the bill.
Former KGB officer of the USSR, deputy from A Just Russia Nikolai Ryzhak considers the measures taken to be correct, but insufficient.
“The term “foreign agent” powerfully invades our consciousness and is the subject of speculation on the part of certain unconstructive forces. They raise the topic of Vlasov. In the information space, statements are heard that we do not need heroes like Alexander Matrosov, Talalikhin, Gastello. Therefore, the measures we are taking are objectively justified from a legal, civil, political, and spiritual and moral point of view. But we will not be able to curb this, because we are legalizing the activities of public associations, non-profit organizations of legal entities and individuals,” the deputy believes.
He proposed reforming the education system in Russia and creating public councils everywhere.
“If we allow our spiritual and moral sphere to be discredited, we will never survive the information war. Young people must accept our value system,” Ryzhak concluded.
