The State Duma resumes broadcasting of meetings in a truncated form
The State Duma of the Russian Federation is partially restoring broadcasts of its meetings. Already on March 23, the government’s report in parliament will be shown on the Internet.
In the future, meetings will be broadcast with the exception of the first issue - discussion of the agenda. At this time, deputies usually allow themselves the sharpest statements.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated this today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You and I must structure our work in such a way that, on the one hand, it is open, and on the other hand, the moments that we have not yet worked out for ourselves are taken into account. Now, aware of our responsibility, we all understand that we reserve the format when discussing the agenda. Everyone needs this.
We are restoring another format, but not in the same form as it was, but making it wider. We don’t need to return to the old, but we need to look differently in order to use new technologies to involve regional legislative assemblies and strengthen the work of building communications with civil society,” Volodin said.
Broadcasts of State Duma meetings stopped in October last year due to the fact that most of the agenda of the deputies was related to the legislative support of the Northern Military District in Ukraine.
The deputy head of the New People faction, Sardana Avksentieva, approached Volodin with a request to resume online broadcasts of Duma meetings.
