The next day, delegations from two factions of the State Duma – United Russia and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation – visited Sevastopol. They did not make any specific promises to the townspeople. Vice-Speaker Vladimir Vasiliev, in the most general terms, promised to prevent a war, like in Syria, and to solve the problem through legal means.
His “star” team, which included athletes Nikolai Valuev and Irina Rodnina, also avoided specifics. Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova burst into tears when she recalled the cruelty of the Maidan. The only promise came from the lips of the deputy from Chelyabinsk Dmitry Vyatkin.
“We will develop amendments to the citizenship law that will simplify obtaining Russian citizenship. We will consider it as soon as possible,” Vyatkin said.
