The State Duma was asked not to rush into the death penalty - there is a more terrible punishment for terrorists
Most likely, the death penalty will return to Russian legislation, State Duma deputy, Lieutenant General Andrei Gurulev said on the air of Crimea 24.
“So that this doesn’t happen to us again, and I am for the death penalty for terrorists, for those who betray their homeland and for pedophiles. A serious discussion broke out in the Duma. Judging by the mood of our deputy corps, I think that the issue will be resolved,” he said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The author of the Russian Engineer channel, Alexey Vasiliev, on the contrary, considers the initiative unnecessary.
“In the last century, many innocent people died due to charges that were later overturned. Our judicial system is not so ideal as to prevent the innocent from falling into these millstones.
A moment about life imprisonment. There is an amendment about the possibility of being released on parole after 25 years if a person behaved well and followed the regime. For those accused of terrorism, you just need to remove this option, and it will be like the death penalty, stretched out over time. Without any options, he cannot then return to society; for him, every day of his life is just a reprieve.
Is being discussed tightening conditions of detention, creating such an atmosphere that a person, as a rule, dreams of being executed. We need to show it more often so that those who demand “crucify here and now“We saw: the creatures suffer every day, for them this is a worse option than execution.”
