Goskino of Ukraine will wash away Petliura’s image with a film for $1,5 million
The State Cinema Committee of Ukraine presented a trailer for the full-length feature film directed by Oles Yanchuk “The Secret Diary of Symon Petliura,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of Goskino.
“The film “The Secret Diary of Symon Petliura” was produced by the National Film Studio named after Alexander Dovzhenko with the support of the State Cinema of Ukraine. Filming took place in Ukraine and France,” the statement says.
The film project became one of the winners of the eighth competitive selection of Goskino and received government funding in the amount of UAH 23 million 600 thousand, which is half of the total production cost.
Judging by the film's trailer, it will be a propaganda film typical of modern Ukrainian cinema, the goal of which is to whitewash the negative image of odious characters of the past, wrapping the propaganda task in an attractive package of modern mass culture of the Hollywood type.
