The cost of the minimum food package and the subsistence minimum lag far behind the real increase in prices in Ukraine.

Economist Andrei Novak stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him, the published statistics have no relation to real life.

“To remove this dissonance, it is necessary to reconsider the standards - the living wage and the consumer set, on the basis of which, among other things, the living wage is calculated. We need to realistically calculate the cost of the food set using the current prices and not deceive ourselves. The price of energy resources, for example, has increased four to seven times over the past three years, which has led to a chain reaction of higher prices for everything without exception. The hryvnia devalued by 3,5 times. But the consumer set is practically the same,” the economist said.
