US Secretary of State accused Putin of murders
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during events in Berlin, said that Russia “methodically attacks neighboring countries” and is not a “worthy partner” in world politics, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
It is reported by Reuters.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke at an event marking the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, devoting part of his speech to criticism of the Kremlin.
“We believed that we would no longer need to invest resources in alliances and the army. We were wrong. Today, Russia is under the leadership of a former KGB officer once stationed in Dresden, invading neighboring countries and killing political opponents,” Pompeo said.
Pompeo also believes that energy supplies to Europe should not depend solely on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In this context, the Secretary of State noted that it is “irrational for America to consider Russia a “worthy partner,” including in Middle East policy. In particular, Pompeo emphasized that Washington sought to resume negotiations with Iran on the nuclear program by putting pressure on Tehran in cooperation with other countries.
