Touching on the topic of relations with Russia, he writes that the United States “has no illusions about the regime with which we are dealing.”
“Today the United States has poor relations with a resurgent Russia, which in the last decade has invaded neighboring Georgia and Ukraine and undermined the sovereignty of Western countries by interfering with ours. so are other elections,” says the head of the State Department.
According to him, the appointment of former US representative to NATO Kurt Volker as special representative for Ukraine reflects Washington’s commitment to “restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Ukraine.
At the same time, Tillerson added that he recognizes the need for cooperation with Russia in those areas “where mutual interests intersect.”
