State TV and Radio Company "Crimea" has reached retirement age and is moving towards self-sufficiency
Simferopol, May 18 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – The Crimean State Television and Radio Company was transferred to self-sufficiency. On the 55th anniversary of its creation, State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea" received the status of an autonomous institution on full self-support.
At the last meeting, the Council of Ministers of Crimea, by its order, created the State Autonomous Institution TV and Radio Company "Crimea" on the basis of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea".

The property of the state television and radio company will be included in the authorized capital of the State Autonomous Institution TV and Radio Company "Crimea", and the functions and powers of the founder will be performed by the Ministry of Information and Mass Communications of Crimea. The created enterprise does not require additional funding from the Crimean budget, since its maintenance will be carried out through economic activities.
“Quite large investments are required in the material and technical base,” explained Minister of Information Dmitry Polonsky at a government meeting. – At the moment we are talking about initial investments in equipment, building renovation, etc. about $3 million. We are actively working to attract investors who would be able to provide a production studio on the basis of the Crimea shopping mall.”
The minister did not specify which investors he was talking about, mentioning only the upcoming joint project with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation on the development of cinematography in Crimea, taking into account the capacities of the state television and radio company. However, the Crimea TV and Radio Broadcasting Company remains responsible for providing information coverage of the socio-economic life of the peninsula, as evidenced by the state assignment specified in the order, which is to be developed by the Ministry of Information. Also, the relevant department was instructed to register the State Autonomous Institution TV and Radio Company “Crimea” and appoint the head of the television and radio company.
It should be noted that in April, by decision of the Ministry of Information, the chairman of the Odessa regional organization of the Russian Unity party, Boris Yemets, who previously headed the Odessa television company ATV, was appointed acting general director of the State Television and Radio Company "Crimea".
Employees of the television and radio company, who were even supported by some deputies of the State Council of Crimea, regarded the appointment of Yemets and several other Odessa managers as a raider takeover of the television channel. On the Internet you can find an open letter from the team, which, however, did not reach the addressee - acting. Head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov.
To be fair, it is worth adding that any arrival of a new leader was greeted by the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company staff with a statement of disagreement, as well as his subsequent dismissal. The State Council cannot directly influence the situation, since the consent of the deputy corps is no longer required for the appointment and dismissal of the director of the Crimea State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
In addition, by proposing to leave the status quo on the state television channel, parliamentarians would have to indicate the source of financing for the company. Previously, State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea" was part of the management of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine and was financed from the state budget. The TV channel received payment from Crimea for posting information materials about the activities of the Council of Ministers and the Supreme Council of Crimea. In recent years, this amount has not exceeded 225 thousand UAH, and this year, by order of the former government of Anatoly Mogilev, all ministries and departments were obliged to spend their advertising budgets on paying for State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (a total of over 1 million UAH). At the same time, the annual budget of the television company was about 13 million UAH.
In 2011, the government of Vasily Dzharty transferred the Crimea State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company under its control. But funds to finance the channel were received from Kyiv in the form of a tranche for the socio-economic development of Crimea. Dzharta's successor as prime minister was tasked not with using state budgetary injections, but with looking for investment money for Crimea, so Mogilev abandoned the idea of taking the state television and radio company into the budgetary balance. Moreover, the information component of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company already worked for the local authorities.
Employees of the television company are confident that the reorganization will lead to layoffs. The team of 273 units has fulfilled its information mission to cover events crucial for Crimea, and may soon join the ranks of unemployed journalists, along with those whose publications will stop working in Crimea from January 1, 2015, as not registered under Russian laws.
The State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea" was created in 1959. Today, the coverage of the television signal of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea" is more than 75% of the territory of the peninsula. This year, May 5, marks 55 years since the start of regular television broadcasting to the Crimean Peninsula.
