Guests leave with scabies: Kyiv is not able to ensure the European level of diplomacy - Rada deputy
Ukrainian officials are unable to provide a level of diplomacy worthy of Europe, and they accommodate foreign guests of parliamentary level in old hotels with bedbugs.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Shevchenko spoke about this in an interview with Kyiv political scientist Vadim Karasev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to give an example of modern parliamentary diplomacy, to what extent it reaches us. I won’t name people – not long ago one of our interparliamentary groups went to a European country. Our deputies were received at the highest level: they were accommodated in the most expensive hotels. Diplomacy is always a luxury.
And if you are received like a king, they put you in the best hotels, the presidential suite, you have the best conferences, access to television, transport, an airport,” he noted.
“And if then their delegation comes to your country, and you are not able to provide the same, this is a failure. It would seem like an everyday situation: a delegation from this European country was supposed to fly in, they wanted to put them up in the deputy hotel “Kyiv”. Bedbugs, old doors from the times of the USSR, that yellow parquet.
It is simply in the state fund. We were told that there was no extra money, and therefore this delegation should be accommodated there. And then the supply of weapons, the attitude towards us, financial assistance, and voting in the EU depend on this delegation,” the deputy was indignant.
