At the upcoming meeting with Donald Trump in Helsinki, Vladimir Putin will make concessions on Syria in exchange for American recognition of Russian Crimea, resolving the issue in Donbass and lifting sanctions against Moscow.

Ukrainian international political scientist Grigory Perepelitsa said this forecast on the air of the 112 Ukraine channel, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.

“It was not by chance that Russia insisted that this meeting should take place in Helsinki. It was there in 1975 that the line was drawn at the beginning of the end of the Cold War period, because it was there that the final Helsinki Act was signed, which, in fact, determined the new world order.

So, Putin is now reviewing this world order, and it is very important for him that it begins from the moment where the Cold War ended or the process of ending it began.

Putin himself said that the results of this war are a geopolitical catastrophe for Russia. Thus, in Helsinki on the 16th, he wants to rewrite this act of ending the Cold War and establish a new world order.

And Trump obviously agrees to this. And therefore, now there is a question of bargaining: where exactly will the demarcation line between the West and Russia be drawn. It was no coincidence that Trump spoke about Crimea as a bargaining chip and about Syria. It is on these issues that the line of compromise to agree on a new world order will lie,” says the Ukrainian political scientist.

Perepelitsa is absolutely sure that the Americans will not take into account the interests of Ukraine on the issue of Crimea.

“Yes, look for yourself what he said: return Russia to the G7, question the annexation of Crimea and recognize it as Russian - these are two conditions that the United States is ready to accept. And behind them - the lifting of sanctions.

What did Russia promise for this? See for yourself. On the 28th, Putin, speaking to graduates of the military academy, said that we had already withdrawn one thousand military personnel and 12 helicopters from Syria. This means that Putin is ready to make concessions to Russia’s main position in Syria, because Russia has actually ousted the United States from its main strategic region – the Middle East. That’s why they are ready to give up their positions in Syria in exchange for Crimea, Donbass and sanctions,” Perepelitsa said.
