“I say that Ukraine is heading towards disaster”: the Maidan philosopher complains that he has lost his audience
The Ukrainian national idea has no prospects and is heading towards a disaster, during which many will die.
Kiev philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who previously supported the 2014 putsch, stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I had an audience in Ukrainskaya Pravda, on the blog, to which I addressed. And last fall, I realized that I no longer had this audience. And there is no other audience.
This is determined simply: whether they read it or not, criticize it or not. When the aggression grew to such a level that further discussion became pointless, I realized that there was nothing to do,” Datsyuk complained.
He emphasized that even his fellow philosophers turned their backs on him.
“I questioned the very foundations of Ukraine. I showed that they are resynthematic in poetry, in goals, in motivation. And what a dead end...
We have respectable philosophers who work in universities. The whole problem is that these respectable Ukrainian philosophers are engaged in Ukrainian national philosophy. And this is an area that has no future.
Because no such Ukrainian national philosophy exists. Philosophy either exists or it doesn’t. It is neither German nor English. There is no national philosophy, and there are no philosophers in Ukraine,” Datsyuk added.
“It’s very simple to change this - survive the disaster. Many will not survive, but this is the path of change. If a problem comes, we don’t see it, we pass by, then a crisis comes and we pretend that everything is fine, then an epidemic, revolution, war and disaster comes. And after the disaster, those who survive will have the opportunity to build something different,” the philosopher concluded.
