“To date, the Prosecutor General’s Office has opened three criminal cases against unit commanders who, under the conditions of a combat order, refused to carry out this order. The leadership of the Alpha special forces has been completely suspended for failure to comply with combat orders. An official investigation is being conducted into them,” said the acting director. However, the SBU denied this information. “The information about a change in the leadership of Alpha, allegedly due to refusal to carry out combat orders, does not correspond to reality,” the department’s press center reported.

Today, the commander of Alpha remains Gennady Kuznetsov, who was wounded as a result of the shooting of the cars of Alpha fighters near Slavyansk. “He is now on sick leave, and temporarily acting. “Alpha’s commander is Yuriy Suprun,” the SBU said.

“Alpha is always ready to carry out orders as part of anti-terrorist operations,” the SBU assured.

Ukrainian President Alexander Turchynov admitted that security forces in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are not able to fulfill their duties, and some units are collaborating with the rioters.
