The Sevastopol City Council returned the land plot in Balaklava to the city
Sevastopol, December 04 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – A land plot of 0,14 hectares for the construction and maintenance of a shopping complex on Nevsky Street in the area of the “40 Years of October” Square in Balaklava was returned to the city by decision of the Sevastopol City Council.

According to speaker Elena Babiychuk from the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, this site has been leased for 13 years from a private individual, who once intended to build a shopping complex there and improve the surrounding area.
“Thus, it is inappropriate to increase the retail space further at the expense of a new site, which to date has not been developed after 13 years, only a fence has been installed. There is a green zone on the territory. I consider it advisable, due to the fact that the site is not being developed, to return it to the city’s ownership and simply develop a park on this territory,” the official noted.
After no objections were heard from the City Council, Vladimir Rudenko, deputy head of the Balaklava district administration, spoke as number two. He agreed with Elena Babiychuk on everything and even with the park, but with a big reservation.
“But there is a proposal to still consider the possibility of preparing a project for the development of this entire territory, i.e. taking into account parking, taking into account transport interchanges. Of course, we can return to the green zone for some time. The green zone has not harmed anyone yet, but there is no adjacent residential development here, so this green zone can, unfortunately, be in demand by antisocial elements who use these liquor stores that take place in this territory,” Rudenko said.
There were again no objections from the City Council.
