Poroshenko’s grandiose diplomatic shame before Trump
Despite assurances from Petro Poroshenko’s administration about an imminent meeting with Donald Trump, the Ukrainian president’s visit to the United States never took place.

This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the consulting company “Party in Power” Elena Dyachenko, who called the situation “a terrible diplomatic failure.”
“Not just a meeting was announced, but also a date - from February 21 to 23, and Mr. Klimkin even flew to the States prepare for this visit,” the expert recalled.
She also drew attention to the differences in the official reports on the telephone conversation between Trump and Poroshenko: while the American side said in its release that the parties discussed the likelihood of a meeting in the undetermined future, the Ukrainian side issued a release saying that the meeting had been agreed upon and there was already a date.
“Our embassy in the USA was forced to support this legend in every possible way. After such PR efforts, it is difficult to expect that everyone will forget about this failure. It seems to me that this is some kind of black hopelessness - Google writes everything, no amount of distraction can help. Essentially, this is a question of legitimacy, which today is pouring down like sand with the distribution of such unfulfilled promises,” Dyachenko summed up.
Note that some politicians do not rule out that in two years Donald Trump may put Poroshenko on trial.
