The border of Belarus with Ukraine is stronger than with NATO
Belarus was forced to “tightly close” the border with Ukraine due to the flow of weapons that passed through it.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this today in Minsk at the opening of the international conference on combating terrorism, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We, with our brothers and close people, were forced to completely close the border, tightly, even more so than with the North Atlantic bloc, which for us, since ancient times, supposedly seemed like enemy number one. And today they closed the border with their people because a flood of weapons poured in. Well, where weapons are in the hands of ordinary people, and especially nationalist-minded people, expect terrorism. And calm Belarus, God forbid, can reap these fruits and get something for which we seem to have no grounds,” Belarusian News quotes Lukashenko as saying.
State Duma deputy, member of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Artem Turov, in an interview with Nation News, noted that the border of the Republic of Belarus is very reliable.
“We have a unified group of troops, air duty and other measures to maintain security there. Today Lukashenko spoke about how the control regime has been strengthened on the southern border. This is a logical step, we see an ongoing conflict on the territory of Ukraine, and a large number of weapons are arriving there. This is the logical work of law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of the country. And, most likely, the enhanced regime was introduced a long time ago, but depending on the situation it was simply changed and tightened,” Turov concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, Lukashenko said that Belarus is in for trouble from Ukraine.
