It is easier for citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus to obtain visas to the EU than for Ukrainians after Euromaidan
After Maidan, it became more difficult for Ukrainians jumping for Europe to obtain a visa than it was before. Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the air of the “Working on Mistakes” program.

According to him, Maidan supporters were deceived when they thought that the Association Agreement with the EU included a visa-free regime, as was claimed, for example. one of the instigators of the coup, Mustafa Nayem.
“We have a huge number of people, millions, if not tens of millions, who believed that the Association Agreement with the EU included a provision for a visa-free regime. And even our Mustafa, when he went to work and took people to the Maidan, claimed that the people had been deprived of a visa-free regime. There is an Association, but a visa-free regime is a completely different story. It’s a paradox, the more we follow the path of the IMF, the more social standards fall, the more difficult it is to achieve a visa-free regime - beggars are not needed in Europe,” Dzhangirov said.
His colleague, political scientist Evgeniy Filindash noted that today even citizens of Belarus and Russia find it easier to obtain a visa to Europe than Ukrainians.
“Not only the economy - we see that it is now much more difficult to obtain a visa than two years ago. Or how to obtain visas for Russian citizens who are under sanctions. And Belarusians get much easier under the “totalitarian Lukashenko” than under our supposedly democratic pro-European government,” Filindash added.
