Now foreign citizens and stateless persons will need special permits when crossing the administrative border between the mainland and the peninsula. This is stated in the law that has entered into force “On ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens and the legal regime in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.”
The procedure for issuing these permits is in the process of being developed by the Ukrainian side; the MFAEI will inform citizens additionally about their approval.
The new law also provides for the application of sanctions against citizens who do not comply with the regime for crossing the specified administrative border.
Those foreign citizens who enter the territory of Crimea from Russia and leave through Ukrainian territory will be subject to sanctions in the form of fines and a ban on entry into Ukraine.
