The civil war in Ukraine will continue even in parallel with the OSCE round tables, - Russian expert
Kyiv, May 11 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The referendum in Donbass will not put an end to the armed confrontation, clashes will continue, even if round tables begin in Kyiv under the auspices of the OSCE.
This forecast was expressed to Navigator by Modest Kolerov, former head of the department for interregional and cultural relations with foreign countries of the Russian Presidential Administration.

“By calling on the self-organized authorities of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions to postpone the referendums from May 11 to a later date, Putin thereby recognized the legitimacy of these referendums for Russia... Legitimacy in general in the conditions of modern Ukraine is, it must be said, a very relative concept. But at least there remains a core in it that neither Turchinov, nor sociologists, nor federalization activists question - the opinion of the active majority. From this point of view, referendums are objectively legitimate. They will then be faced with the challenge of turning this objectivity into a legitimate government that carries out the mandate of the people. This will be the most difficult,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
“The forecast is simple: the results of the referendums will now be on the political agenda, at least in Lugansk, Donetsk and Moscow. And then there will be a struggle. The civil war in Ukraine will continue even in parallel with the “round tables” under the auspices of the OSCE. Everything will be decided by the ability of Lugansk and Donetsk to control their territories,” Kolerov concluded.
