Military journalist Roman Bochkala writes about this on his blog.
According to him, while coal is being semi-legally transported from the DPR to Ukrainian territory, the soldiers again have to survive on the funds of volunteers.
“The frost has hit, the boys are freezing... But there is no coal. In Donbass. For the military. One respected unit was moved from the front line to the front-line rear for completion. They were “quartered” in tents. Well, warm up as you wish. Well, there are volunteer potbelly stoves left over from last winters. But there is nothing to drown them with. Worn out socks and felt boots were used. It’s somehow wrong to gnaw the plantings. So the guys called. We sent them 5000 UAH - enough for one and a half tons + for delivery. Meanwhile, trains with coal are rushing out of the “hole,” Bochkala said.
