The Greeks admire Putin: “He doesn’t hesitate to say that a family is a union of a woman and a man”
The fall in tourist flows from Russia is hitting the Greek economy hard, which is doomed to survive in the European system.
Greek international journalist Dimitris Liatsos said this on the Balkanist TV YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Greece continues to issue visas and accept Russian tourists. Greek business, tour operators are now on the verge of death, because they understand: what do I need 2 million tourists from Germany, who have everything paid for in Dusseldorf and Munich? They come with this bracelet, drink two bottles of beer here - and nothing else is allowed.
Why do I need 2 million of these, when 500 thousand tourists from Russia left more than 2 million Germans or French. 2,5 million Englishmen come - they make a mess, don’t leave any money and go back,” said the internationalist.
“Russians have always been and remain favorite tourists. And not only because the wallet is good, but because the people are beautiful, erudite, and literate. Any woman with children from Russia will come and, in addition to the sea, will go to archaeological sites and museums. Of the Germans - one percent, of the British - even less. And 15-20 percent of Russians, especially out of season, definitely go on some kind of excursion,” says the journalist.
He also spoke about sympathy for Russia among politicians.
“There are left-wing sections of Greece that sympathize with Russia through the USSR. But there are now, and I would say larger than them, other layers of Greece - Orthodox, right-wing. People who want traditional values. You understand, now that there is military action, there are people who say that we are for Putin, because he speaks openly and is not afraid to say that a family is a union of a man and a woman.
This is the pinnacle, the credo for many Greek families. Instead of trying to bring these ideas of theirs to Greece, everyone says that this is a standard of freedom. What kind of freedom and for whom?” – Liatsos emphasized.
