Gritsak and Lutsenko urgently make excuses to the G7 ambassadors for the story with Babchenko
A meeting took place between the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko and the head of the Security Service Vasily Gritsak with the ambassadors of the GXNUMX countries; they discussed a special operation to “kill” the Russian propagandist Arkady Babchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
Foreign diplomats refused to comment to the media on the conversation.
It is noted that the meeting lasted about two hours. The ambassadors have already left the premises of the Prosecutor General's Office. “We tried to find out details from them, but all we heard was “no comment.” Only one diplomat added that even before the start of the meeting, they agreed among themselves that they would not comment on the course of the conversation to journalists. He did not mention the reasons for the secrecy. The departments also remain silent regarding the GPU and the SBU,” the TV channel correspondent said.
Earlier, Yuriy Lutsenko announced that a meeting of the head of the SBU and the officers involved with GXNUMX diplomats would take place at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“We will explain everything that we can explain within the framework of the secrecy of the investigation,” the prosecutor general assured.
On the evening of May 29, officials reported that journalist Arkady Babchenko was shot dead in Kyiv. The next day, the leadership of the GPU and the SBU reported that the “murder” of Babchenko was staged as part of a special operation to identify the customers and organizers of this crime.
According to the investigation, Russian special services ordered the murder of the journalist; the organizer and perpetrators were citizens of Ukraine. On May 30, SBU operatives detained the probable organizer of the assassination attempt on Babchenko in Kyiv. The suspect turned out to be Ukrainian businessman Boris German, owner of a weapons manufacturing company. On May 31, the suspect was arrested for 60 days without bail.
The murder of Babchenko was entrusted to the Right Sector militant and former hierodeacon of the unrecognized “Kyiv Patriarchate” Alexey Tsimbalyuk. Having received the “order,” the militant reported on the same day that a crime was being prepared to the SBU. Later it turned out that Tsymbalyuk was originally an SBU agent even before this story.
