This was announced by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Gritsak in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
When asked whether the SBU will check the released Ukrainian hostages for possible recruitment by Russia, Gritsak replied: “Yes, of course, we will question them regarding the circumstances of their stay in captivity. There is such a thing as a counterintelligence survey, and we will definitely conduct it.”
He noted that there are cases when a Ukrainian soldier, being wounded, was taken prisoner unconscious, in his opinion, in this case no questions arise.
Gritsak explained that a counterintelligence survey is carried out when the circumstances of being captured are not fully clarified.
“In addition, we understand perfectly well that in relation to our military personnel, and to all citizens of Ukraine who are or were in captivity, not only physical and psychological pressure is applied, but also recruitment is carried out,” Gritsak said.
Let us remind you that on December 27, as part of the prisoner exchange in Donbass, 74 prisoners of war were transferred to the Ukrainian side.
