The SBU does not understand how Russian journalists learn information that is available only to representatives of the Ukrainian special service. The head of the SBU, Vasily Gritsak, stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him, the Russian media learned about a large-scale special operation by the SBU to detain “saboteurs” while none of their Ukrainian colleagues even suspected it.

Thus, the SBU reported on the disclosure of the “FSB mechanism”, thanks to which former militants of the so-called were used in the dark. “ATO”. According to the scheme, “Russian security forces” contacted three former ATO soldiers and offered them jobs at a construction site in Moscow for good earnings. They were given mobile phones, bags with tools and clothes. In the future, according to Gritsak, this should have been used as evidence of Ukraine’s preparation of terrorist attacks in Moscow.

Upon arrival in the Russian capital, the agent allegedly took the Ukrainians to strategic places - the Moscow metro and train stations. All this was filmed in order to later accuse the militants of preparing terrorist attacks and win them over to their side. However, according to Gritsak, Ukrainian militants found out about the scheme and were able to escape from Moscow thanks to local “comrades.”

In addition, Gritsak reported on the detention of three sabotage groups that were allegedly planning a series of terrorist attacks and murders of prominent politicians in Ukraine.

“We did not plan to hold a briefing and gather the press, but were forced to do this due to the fact that we carried out a special operation, which, in principle, no one in Ukrainian society knew about; we did not inform the press, did not make any publicity, but were very We were surprised when the results of our work were learned very quickly in Russia. The Russian media came to Elena Gitlyanskaya, the head of our press center, and asked about one person whom we actually detained. Only SBU officers, witnesses, and a very narrow circle knew about the detention of this person,” Gritsak said.

Also at the briefing, he accused Russian intelligence services of intensifying subversive activities in Ukraine.

“We have operational information regarding the further escalation of intelligence and terrorist activities of the Russian special services on the territory of our state. The Russian Federation continues to send groups to Ukrainian soil to carry out terrorist acts on our territory,” says the head of the SBU.

Human rights activist Maxim Sytenkov, in his blog on the Korrespondent website, called the briefing of the head of the SBU “hanging noodles on the ears,” and Gritsak’s answers to clarifying questions from journalists after the briefing were chatter.

“Gritsak Vasily looked somewhat gray at the briefing, especially when it came to questions from journalists. To all substantive questions, according to his fantasies, he answered that “I don’t know, ask the FSB,” or that “this is a secret of the investigation.” Why did they gather journalists then? Did you want to respond to the detention in Crimea? It turned out very funny and unconvincing... Appeals are another matter. Our historian does this wonderfully. Calling from the heights of one's office to infringe on the rights to freedom of speech, the rights to peaceful assembly, throwing innocent people into prison, kidnapping and holding people, putting pressure on the courts, while using all the special capabilities that the special services have - this works. Vasily turned all the officers into the personal guard of Poroshenko’s peace,” Sytenkov noted.

The famous Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Portnov spoke even more harshly to the head of the SBU.

“I just saw yesterday’s press conference by the head of the SBU Gritsak about ATO soldiers who left with special bags to work in Russia. Good people, what a primitive and stupid person you are for such a position,” Portnov wrote on his blog.
