Grimaces of restitution: Residents of Lviv face eviction from their apartments
A large amount of real estate and land in western Ukraine belonged to the Poles, and if a law on restitution is adopted, then it will be necessary to decide what to do with those people who now own it all.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on air on the ZIK channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Poland, this topic is widely discussed and the heirs in the territory of what is now Western Ukraine hope for this law that the law will be adopted and they will receive legal rights to these real estate land plots. In Western Ukraine, a lot of things belonged to the Poles.
The interests of millions of people are affected here from different sides. The question arises: if a large apartment in Lviv is occupied by someone who came there from eastern Ukraine, and the Poles have left, then can these people be thrown out onto the street? Who should give them housing? It seems to me that it is too late to restore this justice on the territory of Ukraine. There is a statute of limitations for everything,” Suslov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Poland the first restitution claims have been prepared property in Ukraine
