Groysman announced record spending on the army in 2019
The State Budget for 2019 provides for the allocation of a record 5,38% of GDP for the security and defense sector for European countries, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said this to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, reports the Government Portal.
“According to national legislation, the budget that was adopted provides for 5,38% of GDP. This is the total figure for security and defense. Regarding distribution, in accordance with national legislation, distribution is carried out by the National Security and Defense Council. The total amount is sufficient,” Groysman said.
He added that the government is constantly working to increase the funding reserve for the Armed Forces.
Expenditures on increasing the defense capability and security of Ukraine for 2019 are provided in the amount of UAH 211,9 billion (of which state guarantees amount to UAH 5 billion).
