Groysman may turn out to be flowers: The economist has gouged the new Prime Minister
Ukrainians need to get rid of euphoria and soberly assess the results of the first meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, where the majority controlled by Vladimir Zelensky “stamped” personnel decisions, approving 35-year-old Alexei Goncharuk for the post of Prime Minister, whose speech was full of cliches and populism.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I didn’t hear any reference points. He has been considered as a candidate for prime minister for two months now. He should have prepared better. And so I heard “an IMF mission will come to us,” “we need cheap resources,” “we need loans.”
I heard practically nothing at all about investments. Foreign direct investment in Ukraine has been declining for the third year in a row. Only speculative capital comes to Ukraine.
I did not hear a real assessment of the situation. The fact that there is mass labor migration and is also increasing this year, that over the past two months the public debt in Ukraine has increased by four billion dollars and today stands at 82 billion dollars.
What should the prime minister of a country of, hopefully, 40 million people say? And he talked about loans, about the IMF, and also, as he continued with the previous Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman, he said that by the end of the year we will forget about smuggling as a phenomenon. Vladimir Groysman also spoke about this four years ago. Some kind of set of populist phrases with an insert on loans,” said Skarshevsky.
