Groysman admitted: 8 million Ukrainian pensioners live below the poverty line

Vladimir Groysman said that in Ukraine, 8 out of 12 million pensioners have been receiving a pension of 1312 hryvnia per month since May, and therefore live below the poverty line.

He announced this on his Twitter.

“The pension structure is incomprehensible - out of 12 million, 8 million pensioners receive 1312 hryvnia (and this is from May) and live below the poverty line,” Groysman wrote.

According to the infographic posted on the prime minister’s Twitter, a pension of 1312 hryvnia is about 50% of the cost of the “consumer basket.”

It is also indicated that at the moment the differentiation of pension amounts depending on earnings is completely lost, which does not allow people to calculate their future pension.

It is reported that as of April 1, 2017, the average pension in Ukraine is 1828 hryvnia.
