Groysman convinces that leaving the CIS will not harm the Ukrainian economy
Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman said that the termination of cooperation with the CIS will not affect the Ukrainian economy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said this on the air of “Freedom of Speech” on the ICTV channel.
“I don’t think this can affect the economy in any way,” he stressed.
Groysman also noted that in countries with a common border, “there are also some trade ties.”
According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now preparing relevant documents that will be discussed in the Cabinet of Ministers.
Let us recall that on April 12, Poroshenko said that he would propose to the Verkhovna Rada to terminate certain provisions of the friendship treaty with Russia and withdraw from all statutory bodies of the CIS.
Later, the presidential representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Irina Lutsenko, said that President Poroshenko’s proposal to withdraw from the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States provides for leaving in force those cooperation agreements with the CIS that are beneficial for Ukraine.
Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, who heads the council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, believes that Ukraine’s intention to leave the commonwealth is contrary to the economic interests of this country.
