Groysman threatens to violate international obligations
The Ukrainian government should reduce gas tariffs for the population, since market laws do not work in this area. Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “112”.

“There is only one way out - to reduce tariffs. The expert community notes that there is no market in the segment of gas supplies to the population, and there are no prerequisites for its emergence,” Zemlyansky said.
He recalled that Ukraine promised the IMF to liberalize the market, and subsidies compensating for the cost of gas were considered a temporary measure.
“Special obligations were imposed on Naftogaz and regional gas companies by the Council of Ministers. Subsidies were seen as a temporary measure. But in this case there is nothing more permanent than temporary. When the prime minister says that he will not allow gas prices to rise, this is absolutely contrary to international obligations. These statements are of an internal political nature,” Zemlyansky said.
