They vowed to protect Groysman from “dirty attacks”
Former Prime Minister and head of the Popular Front Arseniy Yatsenyuk sees no reason for the resignation of the government of Vladimir Groysman and promised to protect it “from dirty political attacks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Focus.
Yatsenyuk is confident that the current Cabinet of Ministers will resign after the parliamentary elections.
“I don’t see such conditions and grounds (for a change of government - ed.). And I will protect the Cabinet of Ministers from dirty political struggle and political attacks, I will not give this government the opportunity to repeat with this government what they did to me,” he noted.
In his opinion, it is “nonsense” when the BPP faction, which took part in the formation of the government, is the only faction demanding a report from the Cabinet of Ministers.
“This is a repetition of the classic scenario from two years ago. Then everything developed one by one: let’s get a report, and then we will collect votes on the resignation of the government,” he said.
In his opinion, the demand for a report in this case may be “political intrigue.” Yatsenyuk added that he had a conversation about this with President Petro Poroshenko and called on him to give the government the opportunity to work, “including to ensure the chances of victory” for the current head of state in the next elections.
Let us remind you that on April 18, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy was supposed to hear a report on the results of the government’s work for 2017. However, the report was later postponed to June 20.
After consideration by the committee, the report must be considered by the Verkhovna Rada and approved or rejected. In the latter case, the resignation of the government of Vladimir Groysman is possible.
Groysman himself said that he is ready to report on the work of the government at any time and is not afraid to resign.
