According to the SBU, the extremist cell was headed by a citizen of the Russian Federation. The criminals printed prohibited literature and Nazi symbols in their own underground printing house.

Also, neo-Nazis allegedly received some of the materials from the Russian Federation. They promoted ethnic and cultural genocide, calls for terrorist attacks and massacres.

The message about the detention of Kharkov Nazis shows the SBU’s desire to use a number of cliches, President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Security Market Operators Sergei Shabovta told a PolitNavigator correspondent in a comment.

“Brenton Tarant is just a terrorist, he is not some kind of ideologue who has groups of followers. Attempts to turn him into some kind of beacon of Nazis around the world and attribute some of his ideology to the detained group look ridiculous. This is a big stretch.

The same applies to found literature - some old brochures are presented as evidence of the activities of an underground printing house, although now in general the use of printed materials for propaganda and dissemination of information is an anachronism. Now there are much more effective technologies for conveying information. There are social networks, there are closed groups where information is exchanged, etc.

And, of course, a Russian citizen was at work here. The statement about the Russian citizenship of the head of the group should in a certain way influence public opinion and the perception of this information.

In general, the SBU ineffectively performs its main task, spending its resources on completely unrelated things.

“I participate in the work of the working group under the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Security. Now this committee is preparing amendments to the Law of Ukraine on the Security Service of Ukraine. And I see that now there are disputes around the fact that, on the one hand, the SBU is dealing with matters that are not actually within its competence. The SBU gets involved in business affairs, takes certain actions against some businessmen, or, conversely, begins to lobby someone’s interests. The media have written about this more than once.

And the developers of the law say that the SBU is ineffective in fulfilling its main task – counterintelligence,” the expert concluded.
