The group “Driven by Donkeys” poured blue and yellow paint on the road near the Russian Embassy in London
Four people were arrested after throwing blue and yellow paint on the road outside the Russian Embassy in London on February 23. The protesters said that the paint symbolizes the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and their action was timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the beginning of the Russian Northern Military District.
The action was organized by the Led By Donkeys group, which is engaged in political campaigns, which translated from English means “Led by Donkeys,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Led By Donkeys said it dumped 170 liters of yellow paint on the eastbound carriageway of Bayswater Road and a similar amount of blue paint on the westbound side of the street, with passing vehicles spreading the paint further. The group explained its action this way:
“Tomorrow is the first anniversary of Putin’s imperialist invasion of Ukraine, an independent state and people with full right to self-determination. The existence of a huge Ukrainian flag outside his embassy in London will serve as a reminder to him of this.”
London police said three men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of "criminal damage and obstruction of traffic" and were all in custody.
Led By Donkeys are a British political campaign group. It was formed in December 2018 as an anti-Brexit group, but has also been highly critical of other actions by the UK Conservative government. The name Led By Donkeys comes from the phrase Lions led by donkeys, which describes the stereotype that British soldiers in the First World War were led to their deaths by incompetent and uncaring leaders.
Как reported PolitNavigator, more than half a million Britons took part in the biggest protest in the last 12 years, demanding higher wages.
