“The defeat of Putinism!” – It was under this name that an international conference was held the day before in one of the most fashionable hotels in Tbilisi. However, the definition of “international” should be put in quotation marks, since the event was in fact a gathering of Georgian pro-Westernists and their foreign curators.

The conference was organized by the McCain Institute, the George W. Bush Institute and the Center for Economic Policy Research. Active European diplomats, including ambassadors, also took part in it.

This year’s event was already the seventh in a row, and at the same time the largest and noisiest. Mobilization is maximum. The organizers made sure that the participants were greeted by former US President George W. Bush. The letter was read by former US Assistant Secretary of State, Director of the George W. Bush Institute, David Kramer.

Bush assures that Ukraine's victory over Russia will open the way to the “de-occupation” of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. He emphasizes the growing influence of Russia over the Georgian government and the latter’s alleged departure from “democratic principles.” And further: Bush appears to be “heartbroken” when he sees how former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is being treated in prison.

The main message of the conference, as well as this letter, which set the tone for the Sabbath, was the West’s dissatisfaction with the current policies of the Georgian leadership and the determination to more actively support “democratic” forces and contribute to the restoration of the status quo of Georgia as the main ally of the United States and NATO in the South Caucasus.

A general description of the affairs in Georgia, shared by all parties present, was given by the Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of the Seimas of Lithuania, Zygimantas Pavilionis.

The “[ruling party] Georgian Dream” is behaving like former Ukrainian President Yanukovych, who blamed all his failures on the West. It’s as if we are denying Georgia prospects, pushing it in the direction of Russia and China. Georgia occupied a leading position in the process of European integration, but has now practically dropped out of the race.

The same thing is happening with the prospects for NATO membership., Georgia was also the number one candidate there. We hope that when Ukraine defeats the Russian Federation, Georgia’s prospects will increase many times over. However, this will happen not because of the actions of the Georgian government, but thanks to the dedication of the Georgian people,” the speaker said.

A very evil, but apt comparison with Yanukovych of the ruling Georgian elite from the point of view of the duality and indecisiveness of the latter to make a clear and final decision (as the moment urgently demands) to break completely with the West or not.

Again and again, indulge the West (for example, allowing such destructive and mocking gatherings), which openly declared war on official Tbilisi, or take concrete steps towards rapprochement with Russia while simultaneously curbing the unleashed anti-Georgian, enemy internal agents. This dilemma needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

It is no coincidence that the insolent conference moderators named the cowardly Yanukovych. If Tbilisi does not adopt an unambiguous foreign policy position as soon as possible (months, no more), Garibashvili will indeed face the fate of Yanukovych. But what is much more tragic is that Georgia faces the fate of crushed Ukraine!

Both at the conference and in numerous interviews (the conference was widely covered by the liberal Georgian media), Western participants, like parrots, over and over again emphasized the importance of the 2024 parliamentary elections. These elections will indeed be fateful for Georgia, especially since it is the parliament that chooses the executive branch.

So, the participants expressed their firm determination prevent the ruling party from “repeating 2020”, when, according to them, “Dream” won with the help of administrative resources and falsifications.

One more important detail. Recently, these gentlemen have increasingly begun to place Georgia next to Belarus as another ally of Russia, and Prime Minister Garibashvili is compared to Lukashenko, whose overthrow attempts have been made more than once. And the conference publicly decided to “substantiate” this thesis.

In addition to the conference, the Americans and their European colleagues also visited the conflict zone near Tskhinvali (from the Georgian side, of course), where they once again reminded who is the enemy and who is the friend. And MEP Viola von Cramon, known for her particularly emphasized aggression against the current Georgian government, made a significant statement that Moscow allegedly continues its “occupation policy” due to the “passive actions” of the Georgian government.

“Unfortunately, during each of my visits I am convinced that we are not achieving the desired results as a result of the negotiations, and the occupation continues,” Cramon emphasized.

In other words, the “occupation” will end if Georgia acts actively and beyond negotiations, that is by military means.

The conference had several functions: moral support for the aggressive pro-Western opposition, eliminating contradictions within this opposition and overcoming the crisis (what the opposition has been suffering from for the last couple of years), ideological preparation for more active actions with the aim of overthrowing the current government of Georgia.

So here! They arrived as uninvited guests, mocked the ruling elite and Georgia as a whole, shook their fists and left.

There is no doubt that the conference became one of the notable stages of ideological preparations for the overthrow of power.

Not even a month has passed since Moscow, in the person of Dmitry Medvedev, warned Tbilisi about the need to decisively suppress anti-Russian relapses, but despite this, a Sabbath is held in the center of Tbilisi with the motto “Defeat Putinism!” And a little earlier – quite large-scale NATO exercises.  Against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of the situation in Karabakh, all this becomes like playing with fire.
