Georgian Westerners beg the US to create a local TsIPSO to protect gays
The United States should help Georgia create its own TsIPSO.
Georgian political scientist Gela Vasadze, a former member of the Central Committee of Mikheil Saakashvili’s party, ex-vice-mayor of Batumi, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Discussing the situation in Ukraine, the presenter asked the political scientist about what Georgia is doing to strengthen its defense, and how strong Russia’s information influence is there.
“Now the Americans have handed over another package of military assistance. But you understand that this is all great, but defense capability and security are not only weapons and trained soldiers, although this is also very important, it is a whole complex. A whole complex, starting with the economy, TsIPSO - centers of information and psychological special operations, with propaganda, with culture.
In general, almost everything is there. The defense complex of state measures should be aimed at ensuring the security of the state and its citizens. That's the problem.
The pro-Russian lobby, I think, is quite strong, but, let’s say, it does not manifest itself as pro-Russian.
And as for Russian propaganda. You know, Russian propaganda in Georgia is conducted in good language. It is mainly associated with the propaganda of xenophobia, Turkophobia, Islamophobia and that type of ultranationalism in quotes, which actually exposes the country to conflicts with our neighbors. And, of course, homophobia. This is generally a favorite feature of pro-Russian forces.
But they shout that they are not pro-Russian, but that they are pro-Georgian. They can scold Russia. But this doesn’t change anything,” the Adjarian “hawk” laments.
Thank you!
