Georgian boomerang will soon fly back - Klimkin
The situation with the appointment of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of head of the Executive Committee of Reforms and the subsequent recall of the Georgian ambassador from Kyiv will still come back to haunt Ukraine.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on air on the UA: First TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Saakashvili’s appointment greatly offended Ukraine’s “Georgian friends.”
“This will come back to us later. Moreover, not only with Georgia. Friends are everything. When people ask me who is the best friend in the European Union, I always say a very simple thing: friends are friends. They are small, they are old, they are like that. Somewhere in your soul you can distinguish them, but friends are friends. This will come back to us very much...
Georgia, it is not a stranger to us, it is dear to us in many ways. If everyone sees that we behave this way with such friends, we could have appointed Saakashvili anyway, but settled it in a completely different way - beautifully, creatively. But no one even thought about it.
It would be possible to construct some beautiful words around this, some appeals to the Georgians. And we say: “Georgians, let them be there, and we will do our own thing.” Here we are to “do our own thing” - there, in international reality, you won’t find anything with anyone,” Klimkin saddens.
