Georgian diplomat: The conflict between Ukraine and Russia will last for a long time
Kyiv, July 09 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Vice Consul of the Georgian Consulate in Donetsk Irakli Advadze is skeptical about the prospects of Russian-Ukrainian relations.
He stated this while participating via Skype in a round table “Strategic partnership with Russia: is it possible after the signing of the Association with the EU, events in Donbass and the gas blockade.”

“Yesterday I watched footage of Mr. Kurginyan’s press conference. He claimed that Russia was supplying weapons to the Donbass, 30 thousand machine guns, if I’m not mistaken. Thus, Russia itself no longer denies the fact of aggression. My vision of the situation coincides with the vision of the entire Ukrainian people – this is direct aggression,” said Irakli Advadze.
He does not believe in the possibility of establishing relations between the two countries.
“I think the current situation, the conflict, will last for a long time. Unfortunately, I do not see mutual global strategic interests. The main problem of the conflict is Crimea. I don’t believe that he will return to Ukraine soon, if only because Russia has twenty thousand troops stationed there. Open aggression also continues in eastern Ukraine. Therefore, strategic partnership is impossible. No matter how hard Ukraine tries, it will not work,” said the Georgian diplomat.
